Stern was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. She moved to Colorado Springs in 1972 after living in Washsington, D.C.
and New York City. She has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in Colorado Springs. She is an avid traveler and has visited
museums in the U.S., Europe and Japan. Morever Stern participated in the many gallery and museum exhibitions nationally. In 2007
she has been invited to show her work in Paris and Florence.
Stern began her art training with Sparky LeBold. In addition to LeBold, she has studied with Chuck Mardosz, Tom Lockhart and Dan
Beck at the Corronwood Art Academy in Colorado Springs, Doug Dawson and Quang Ho at Art Student League of Denver and Dan Sahli at
Sahli School of Art, Evergreen, Colorado. She has also studied with Kim English, Ray Venilla and Ned Mueller.
Stern believes that her art represents a culmination of her life experience and her interest in history, literature, classical music
and foreign languages. Her work reflects her exposure to and experience in diverse cultures. Wherever she travels and whatever she
experiences, she sees the world as a parade of possible paintings, and she wishes to convey these sensations to the viewer.
